Make A Trap For Fish
How to make a Fish Trap
This trap works best if you put it in a small side channel in a stream or river. You should try to block off almost the entire channel with the trap. Any part that you do not block off entirely, you will want to still make it so that the fish cannot get through easily. You want to try to leave little choice for the fish to take any route through other than your trap. Force the fish to enter your trap. Then you can block off the exits and spear them.
The fish will enter the trap through the two openings and not be able to escape right away. As you can see in the photo that part of the trap is made with sticks. If sticks are all that is available the entire trap could be made of sticks. There are a lot of ways to make this trap. The diagram on the right is just one option. This trap will have a high success rate if built properly. This could be your bread and butter in a survival situation. Since fish are so plentiful they are a great resource. They are also easy to cook and loaded with valuable vitamins and minerals. One of the main problems with survival is not getting proper nutrition. Fish are so healthy for you that they should be eaten if possible. When you are out in the wilderness working for food you are in need of a very high protein source. Fish will provide you the energy and protein you need to push through the tough times and get the job done.
