Fairy Trumpet Flower (ipomopsis aggregata)

Ipomopsis aggregata trumpet flowerThese flowers can vary in color from white. red, pink and even orange. They are a member of the phlox family and have a lot of different names. They can be found in the rocky mountains growing to about 24″ tall.  In the south such as Texas they have been known to grow much larger up to 6′ tall. This is a favorite flower of the hummingbird.

These flowers like a lot of sun and can usually be found on sunny well drained hillsides in the rocky mountains. There are some varieties of this species that even grow well in the sagebrushy areas.

These flowers bloom almost all spring and summer and are very common in most rocky mountain areas.
